Holy Pete! He's on the Av's Again! Yes!!!

“Over the last several months, I have worked extremely hard in order for this to be possible. I am looking forward to putting this jersey on again,” said Forsberg. “I have so many great memories of my playing days in Denver. I’m excited about helping my new teammates and former teammates in the coming weeks, and hopefully I am able to do that in the very near future.”Forsberg, 34, was selected sixth overall in the 1991 Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers before being dealt to the Quebec Nordiques on June 30, 1992. He made his NHL debut with the Nordiques during the 1994-95 season, where he tallied 50 points (15g/35a) in 47 games during the shortened season, earning him the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie. During his next nine seasons in Colorado, he would go on to win two Stanley Cups (1996, 2001); capture the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP (2003); and appear in seven All-Star games. During his MVP season, he led the NHL in scoring with 106 points (29g/77a) in 75 games. He was named a First-Team NHL All-Star three times (1998, 1999, 2003) while with Colorado. Forsberg currently stands fourth on the franchise’s all-time scoring list with 741 points (216g/525a) in 580 career games. He stands first on the organization’s all-time post-season assist list (97); second in playoff goals (57) and points (154); and second in post-season game-winning goals (12). He owns regular season franchise records for most points in a period (5) and shares the record for most assists in a game (5). His post-season club records include most points in a game (5); most goals in a period (3); most game-winning goals in a series (3 done twice).
Must See Movie!

I also surprised Madison and Zach today. I picked them up at school. Kristi is making her killer sloppy joe's and we'll probably just hang out and watch movies. It's too cold to go out and do anything!

This is sick. Yogi the dog was violated again.
Wichita police arrested 20-year-old Joshua Coman Tuesday night for aggravated burglary and sodomy.
Coman is suspected of breaking into a garage in the 3700 block of E. Clark where the homeowner caught him having sex with the family’s Rottweiler.
Coman was arrested and charged in Reno County last September for having sex with a dog there. You can click on this link for the whole story. Pretty sick stuff. http://www.ksn.com/news/local/15807462.html

I am not putting this on the blog to be sicko. I knew of the case earlier in the year and I also knew about the dog and the name.

Kansas City is 4th Most Underrated American City

Here's the story: With downtown's multi-billion-dollar face-lift, pedestrian-friendly boulevards, and claim to having the most fountains of any city outside of Rome, Kansas City is definitely deserving of buzz. Plus, history buffs can learn about the city's pioneer roots at the Arabia Steamboat Museum, while sports fans can visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, a tribute to the excellent athletes forced to play in segregated leagues. Blues and jazz clubs also abound in this city, where musicians like Count Basie and Charlie Parker got their start, particularly in the historic 18th and Vine District, home of the American Jazz Museum . Once you've worked up an appetite, you're also in for a treat, as this Midwestern city also boasts some of the country's best barbecue.

Thanks

They have started to rebuild the town. It's a very strong community. They have this banner hanging in the Morton Building. I thought that it was a neat banner.

'Jaws' actor Scheider dies at 75

He was nominated for a best-supporting actor Oscar in 1971's "The French Connection" in which he played the police partner of Oscar winner Gene Hackman and for best-actor for 1979's "All That Jazz," the autobiographical Bob Fosse film.
However, he was best known for his role in Steven Spielberg's 1975 film, "Jaws," the enduring classic about a killer shark terrorizing beachgoers and well as millions of moviegoers.
Widely hailed as the film that launched the era of the Hollywood blockbuster, it was also the first movie to earn $100 million at the box office. Scheider starred with Richard Dreyfuss, who played an oceanographer.
"He was a wonderful guy. He was what I call 'a knockaround actor,'" Dreyfuss said.
"A 'knockaround actor' to me is a compliment that means a professional that lives the life of a professional actor and doesn't' yell and scream at the fates and does his job and does it as well as he can," he said.
In 2005, one of Scheider's most famous lines in the movie — "You're gonna need a bigger boat" — was voted No. 35 on the American Film Institute's list of best quotes from U.S. movies.
That year, some 30 years after "Jaws" premiered, hundreds of movie buffs flocked to Martha's Vineyard, off the southeastern coast of Massachusetts, to celebrate the great white shark.
The island's JawsFest '05 also brought back some of the cast and crew, including screenwriter Carl Gottlieb and Peter Benchley, who wrote the novel that inspired Spielberg's classic. Spielberg, Scheider and Dreyfuss were absent.
Scheider was also politically active. He participated in rallies protesting U.S. military action in Iraq, including a massive New York demonstration in March 2003 that police said drew 125,000 chanting activists.

February 5th. Happy B-day Honey!

The woman of my dreams was born on February 5, 1969. I didn't know it at the time, because I was a fetus. I knew it back in the late 80's when I first met her, though. The first thing I remember was her beautiful dark brown eyes. I also loved her smile and her sense of humor. Well, she has to have some sense of humor to be with me. Kristi, Happy Birthday. You mean so much to me. You came back into my life when I needed you most. You are my best friend and the love of my life. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you.
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. Fred "Gopher" Grandy from "The Love Boat" sends his wishes. Love ya!
***I found this picture of Kristi and "Gopher" in her photo album. I believe she said that she was 10 or 11 at that time.
OUCH!!!

That's all I can do is laugh. I am not happy right now. It's so amazing how you can be on such a high on one day (Giants winning Super Bowl) and the next day feeling like a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest (taxes). Well, that's life. I hope that April 15th is a better day for you.

GIANT Super Bowl Upset!!!

JEREMY! I hope that you get connections when you move to New York City. I hope to go to a Giants game with you next year. :)

Groundhog predicts more winter weather

Brace yourself for more wintry weather. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Saturday, leading the groundhog to forecast six more weeks of winter.
The rodent was pulled from his stump by members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle, top-hat- and tuxedo-wearing businessmen who carry out the tradition.
Each Feb. 2, thousands of people descend on Punxsutawney, a town of about 6,100 people some 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, to celebrate what had essentially been a German superstition.
The tradition is that if a hibernating animal sees a shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says spring will come early.
That was the forecast from Gen. Beauregard Lee, Punxsutawney Phil's counterpart in Lilburn, Ga. Beau did not see his shadow Saturday morning at the Yellow River Game Ranch.
It was the third year in a row the two groundhogs' predictions differed.
