Hitting News Stands Thursday

It must be a pretty dead time around the Wichita Eagle. They called me today and interviewed me about my new position at Journal Broadcast Group. It's going to be in the Business section of the Wichita Eagle on Thursday. It should also be on the website. That's www.kansas.com.
How's this for irony? My ex-wife (Kelly) starts working there on Monday. Just thought it was kinda weird. Well, have a nice day.

A Quick Hello.

Things have been very busy. We had all the kids over the weekend and I had no hockey games, no dances and no station events. It was great! We turned off the phones and didn't get on the computer at all. We just hung around all weekend. Here's a picture of Zach from Sunday when we went messing around at the mall. He's sporting a KU hat. Rock Chalk! Jayhawk! K-U!!! What does that mean? Go to this site! http://www.rockchalk.com/john/john/rock.html

For The Love of Pete!!!

Here's Pete, Linda and Bo Bo Tilley riding on Victory Road in Reno County on Sunday afternoon. It was a great time. Thanks for the great lunch. Oh, and I loved the entertainment at our meal. Linda took a nose-dive in the kitchen! Kristi and Pete gave it a 9.6, but I gave it a 9.9!

Love at 35 MPH

Here's a picture that I shot this afternoon. We were at Kristi's Dad and Linda's house. They have a couple 4-Wheelers and we went on a friendly ride in rural Reno and Sedgwick counties in Kansas. Here's Kristi and me as I am driving. Don't do this at home!

She's Lost Her Marbles!

I know a few people that have lost their marbles. On that subject, if anyone is wanting to critique a parent, here's one for you.

Pop star Britney Spears sported a newly shaved head when she dropped by a Los Angeles tattoo parlour and quickly drew a crowd. The Friday evening visit to the “Body and Soul” tattoo shop in the Sherman Oaks district of Los Angeles came on the same day as People magazine and other entertainment media reported that Spears, 25, had recently entered a rehabilitation center in Antigua and checked out a day later. Spears representatives could not be reached for comment on the rehabilitation reports, but the Access Hollywood entertainment news outlet cited a spokesperson denying them and saying she was not in rehab.

Los Angeles television station KABC showed video of Spears entering the parlour with a small tattoo visible on the back of her neck and her head completely shaved. Tattoo artist Max Gott told the station Spears got a “dainty” new tattoo. “She got some cute little lips on her wrist - red lips, a little pink,” he said. Outside, police controlled a large crowd of onlookers and cleared the way for her to leave. Spears reached pop stardom with hits such as “Oops!... I Did it Again,” and developed a reputation for a reckless spontaneity, including her two-day marriage to a childhood friend. A mother of two young sons, Spears has acknowledged that her image had taken a beating in recent months. She has become a regular fixture on the circuit of big-city US nightclubs since her split in November from husband and former backup dancer Kevin Federline. Spears and celebrity Paris Hilton recently made the cover of Newsweek magazine with a story headlined The Girls Gone Wild Effect and a poll of readers who said celebrities like them were having too much influence on young girls. In January, Spears posted a message on her website acknowledging the negative publicity while writing, “I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever and to reaching out to my fans on a more personal level.”

Wow! I hope that she gets her stuff together!

What In The World Has Happened???

They start 9-0 and they win at Syracuse and at LSU. What a start to the season! The next thing you know, they go to a tournament in Vegas and lose two games and the slide begins.

The Shockers lost a heart breaker again on Saturday at home. They got beat 60-58 on a last second shot to Appalachian State at Koch Arena. They are now 17-11. There is NO way that they will make the NCAA Tournament this year. The only way is if they win the Missouri Valley Tournament, so that means that they won't make the "Big Dance." They will be lucky to even make the NIT. Pretty frustrating. I hope that they can get it together very quickly and prove that they have what it takes.

No Go For Norbit!!! It Sucks!

Where do I start? Norbit is terrible! Kristi and I went to see it and actually left. Mr. Murphy just isn't funny anymore. What you saw in the previews was the only funny stuff in the movie. We have seen it all. Don't waste your money on it. I wanted to go and see "Ghost Rider."

Weekend Pland

Kristi and I are going to try and see a movie this weekend. We have agreed to go and see "Norbit" starring Eddie Murphy and Eddie Murphy. I will let you know if we go and how it is!

It was Chilly, but we still made it to Chili's!

I have been SO busy at work. I worked 13 hours on Tuesday and 13 today. I am going to have another 12+ hour day tomorrow. Madison and Zach were both under the weather earlier this week and didn't get to spend the night with me on Wednesday. Well, now Kristi and her kids are sick. I wanted to be able to do some stuff with the kids this week. I stopped by and saw them at their moms for awhile on Wednesday night and tonight I picked them up and we went out for dinner. We ate at Chili's. Zach had a burger and cheese and Madison had pasta and steamed broccoli. I can't believe how much that kid loves veggies and good food.
Here's a picture of them foolin' around at Chili's tonight. Speaking of that....it's COLD here!

Big Fish!

I've went fishing and I have only caught a handful of fish my entire life, and none of them were worth bragging about. Here's a fish story with proof!!! Darren Horness of Howards Grove, lays on the ice next to the 72-inch, 102-pound sturgeon he speared Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. The fish came up within 6 inches of the surface inside his ice shack, he said. About 8,000 fishermen spearhunt sturgeon each year on Lake Winnebago and its upriver lakes. In his seven years, Horness hadn't come close to a fish that big. Now that's a Big Fish!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day. What did you do? I got Kristi a dozen roses and the kids some goodies. We ate at home tonight, since it's snowing and the wind chill is below zero. Cuddle Time! :)

You Choke! You Go! Amen!!!

You Choke! You Go!!!
I was actually pleased to hear about this. It's something that the people in Cleveland, Kansas City and Washington DC should've done a lot earlier! Bye Bye Marty!!!

A shocking playoff loss was the least of Marty Schottenheimer's worries.
Schottenheimer, who has 200 regular-season wins and no Super Bowl appearances, was fired as
San Diego Chargers coach on Feb. 12, a month after being told his job was safe despite another January collapse. Team president Dean Spanos interceded in what he called a "dysfunctional situation" between the coach who led San Diego to an NFL-best 14-2 record and his general manager.

What a Show!!! Pat Green is great

We had a benefit concert for St. Jude Hospital tonight. The entertainment was Pat Green. He was great! It's been a long day. I put in 13 hours today and I getting ready to go to bed. I just wanted to let you know that you gotta give him a listen if you get a chance!

Taco Time!!!

It was all you can eat Taco night tonight at Taco Shop. We hit it every once in awhile. There's not a lot of teeth at that place, but it's cheap, and cheap is good! Here's Destiny going to town on her tacos. The picture was shot from my piece of crap camera phone. Please excuse the blurry photo.

What A Crappy Gift!!!

Well, Austin's B-Day Party is over. He got some cool stuff. He got a Broncos T-Shirt, mp3 Player, Hockey Jersey, Cash and this!!!! "Fat Albert" gave Austin an extremely large pair of men's underwear that have apparently been used a time or two!!! That concludes this "Soiled Sunday" at the Austin Nice Birthday Party!

Happy 13th Birthday Austin!

Austin's 13th B-Day is on Thursday (2/15), but we are having a surprise party for him this afternoon. Here's a sneak peek at the cake. I just picked it up at Sam's. Pete and Linda Tilley are coming over for the party. Kory, Darla and their kids just got here, so I gotta go. Pete is making Italian Chili for the event. I will let you know how it tastes.

Another Picture of Bella The Bulldog

I took this from my camera phone a few minutes ago. It's Bella waiting to eat. Man! That dog eats fast!

Great New Song!!!

Have you heard the song "Fidelity" by Regina Spektor yet? I LOVE IT! It's one of those songs your either gonna love or hate. Kristi hates it, but there's something about it that I love. It's quirky and unique to say the least. Give it at listen at http://www.reginaspektor.com/index2.html if you get the chance. It's on the "Begin To Hope" cassette on that website. Great song!!!
HEY JEREMY! The song "Better" from Regina Spektor is the one that plays all the time on the XM Promos. I have been trying to figure out who sings it and just realized that it's her. It's on that website, too.

Happy Birthday Brittney!

It was Brittney Tilley's B-Day a few days back. Here she is posing in front of her Guitar and Amp that she got for the big day! She looks just like her dad, Kory. Pretty scary!
She had a fun Birthday at a Wichita Thunder game. She got her name announced at the game and she got to meet some players and got a picture with some, too. Hope you had fun, kiddo.

Bella The Bulldog

Here's a pic of Bella. This is from this morning. She was upset that all of the kids were downstairs playing and she wanted in on the action. I took this picture from downstairs as she was trying to get down. She is scared of steps. I will get more pics of her on soon. She's about 16 weeks old now.

Chillin' With The Kids

It's Saturday morning and we're all just hanging out at the house. Here's a picture of Zach playing Playstation 2 while Destiny and T.T. look on. It's so nice having NO WORK, NO THUNDER GAMES and NO DANCES to do this weekend. It's so nice to not have a set schedule and not to be on the go non-stop for a couple of days.
I have already started Cheese Dip in the Crock Pot and Kris is making her killer Chili this weekend, too. YUM YUM!

****STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER "SONG WITH MEANING"

Legend Is Coming to Wichita.

Willie Nelson is coming to town on Tuesday, March 27th. I am very excited. I have been working my butt off at work to help make our radio stations (KFDI, The Ranch and Classic Country 92.3) the exclusive stations to present the concert. Well, I found out today that our stations get to "Present" him. That means that our stations are the only ones that can be at the show and on stage. There's a great on air promotion that I have come up with, but I can't tell you what it is yet.
I am so excited to get to meet him!

Haven't Heard From You Much Lately

All is well here. Keeping busy. Kids are well. Zach is spending the night tonight. He's sitting with me while I type this. Madison is at the Baird's house. She is excited, because she is going to a Birthday Slumber Party this weekend.
We are getting ready to get Zach in the shower and ready for bed. "Good Parents" make sure that they do this.

Does He Know What He's Getting Himself Into???

Wade Phillips shakes hands with Jerry Jones after being named the new Dallas Cowboys Coach during a press conference on February 8, 2007 in Irving, Texas. Wow! The former Broncos coach is in for a handful. He'll have Terrell Owens ego on and off the field and Jerry Jones in the front office. He's screwed!!!

BREAKING NEWS: ANNA NICOLE SMITH IS DEAD

HOLLYWOOD, Florida
Anna Nicole Smith', the pneumatic blonde whose life played out as an extraordinary tabloid tale — jeans model, Playboy centerfold, widow of an octogenarian billionaire, reality-show subject, tragic mother — died Thursday after collapsing at a hotel. She was 39. More details to come.

How is this for wild? Eternal love.

Did you hear about this?
Archaeologists in Italy have discovered a couple buried 5,000 to 6,000 years ago, hugging each other. "It's an extraordinary case," said Elena Menotti, who led the team on their dig near the northern city of Mantova. "There has not been a double burial found in the Neolithic period, much less two people hugging -- and they really are hugging." Menotti said she believed the two, almost certainly a man and a woman although that needs to be confirmed, died young because their teeth were mostly intact and not worn down.

"I must say that when we discovered it, we all became very excited. I've been doing this job for 25 years. I've done digs at Pompeii, all the famous sites," she told Reuters.

"But I've never been so moved because this is the discovery of something special."

A laboratory will now try to determine the couple's age at the time of death and how long they had been buried.

Happy Birthday to Kristi!

The love of my life turned 38 today! Kristi celebrated her birthday with her kids and a Wichita Police officer. Seems that Kristi was on her way to run errands today and ran a stop sign at the same time. The officer pulled her over as I was on the phone with her. She got a ticket. What a crappy Birthday present.
Happy Birthday, Kris. I love ya!

Van Halen's New Bassist? Eddie's Boy Wonder!

Van Halen has finally found its new bassist -- and it looks like the rock gods are keeping the band a family affair. Van Halen has hired 15-year-old Wolfgang Van Halen -- the son of guitarist Eddie Van Halen and estranged wife Valerie Bertinelli, and nephew of drummer Alex Van Halen -- as the new bassist for the band. Wolfgang replaces longtime bassist Michael Anthony, who left the band earlier this year. Eddie Van Halen's spokesperson says that Wolfgang, known as "Wolfie," has already joined his dad and uncle for rehearsals in the studio for a 2007 summer tour. Wolfie played dates with his father during the band's 2004 tour, and the song "316" on 1991's "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge," was named for Wolfie's birth date that same year. The band is still without a lead singer, despite rumors that David Lee Roth might rejoin.
I saw "Wolfie" on stage with Van Halen a couple years ago at a show in Kansas City. He could play, but I was a fan of Michael Anthony. I had him on the air with me at KKRD and met him 3 times. He was the nicest of the band. Him and Sammy Haggar were very nice. Alex and Eddie were nice, too, but Michael and Sammy were more genuine. Should be interesting to see!

#1 Favorite Album of All Time

OK. Here ya go! It's "5150" by Van Halen. It's my all time favorite album. I know that a lot of people like Van Halen with David Lee Roth more that Sammy Haggar. I like both, but loved Van Halen with Sammy and "5150" is an incredible album. It has "Dreams," "Why Can't This Be Love," "Best of Both Worlds," "Love Walks In," "Summer Nights" and more! Man! I am getting pumped just typing this! Have to go and grab the CD to listen to. I will check back in tomorrow!

#2 Favorite Album of All Time

If you know me, you know that Live is my favorite band. It's sad, the lead singer actually knows me and remembers me every time I see them. He has even asked me how the kids are in the past and named "Madison" by name. Pretty wild. They don't have the following that they did in the mid-90's. That's when "Throwing Copper" came out. It is an incredible album. Fantastic stuff!!! I still listen to it. Their live show is incredible, too! Check it out sometime!

3 Favorite Albums of All Time - Here's #3

Earlier I was talking about the "Purple Rain" Soundtrack being one of my favorite albums of all time. It made me think of my "Top 3" favorites of all time. It's gotta be "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. Say what you will, but the guy was incredible and has been an icon for years. My Grandma Hubbard even had that album. She said that she liked his songs. There were so many hits off of that album and it's still the biggest seller worldwide of all time, by far! #2 and #1 of my All Time favorites are on the way! Who will it be???

Prince Still Has It!!!

He has been going at it since his hit "I Wanna Be Your Lover" in 1979. Prince still has it! He was incredible on the season finale of "American Idol" last year and he even added more tonight during the Super Bowl Halftime Show. I remember Price very well. "Purple Rain" was the first Rated R movie that I saw. I was at the Battlefield Mall in Springfield, MO with my friend, Mark Dinwiddie and his sisters. They thought we went to see "Red Dawn," but we didn't. "Purple Rain" was a good movie and the Soundtrack is probably still one of the best albums of all time.

Congrats to the Colts! Peyton Wins the Big One!!!

He did it! Peyton did something that Dan Marino and Boomer Esiason couldn't do....he won a Super Bowl! I honestly thought that he would be a constant choke artist and would never win the big one. I was pleasantly surprised tonight when Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts won Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears 29-17. Peyton was the MVP, but it honestly could've went to a number of players. He got a sweet Caddy out of it though, and it will go well with a nice new ring. Congrats Indy!

Have you watched CSI: Miami? David Caruso always has the stupidest lines on that show. The Opie and Anthony show on XM Radio (my favorite show on the radio) has fun with it every morning. You can see what I am talking about at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sarYH0z948

Please, let it be a good one.

It's time for Super Bowl XLI today in Miami. I am going for the Colts. I hope that it's a good game this time around. It would be a better game if the Broncos were in it. :)
I am looking forward to the commercials this year. I am also looking forward to Billy Joel's singing of the National Anthem and of course, Prince at Halftime.
I am predicting that the Colts will win by 6. We'll see what happens. Go colts. At least there's a horse in the Super Bowl. It would be better is it were the Broncos, though. :)

Feel Free To Score! GEEZ!!! Shockers Lose!

The Shockers played an early game today at Charles Koch Arena. It was an early game today, and apparently, the Shox weren't awake. They got beat by SIU 54-46. That's ridiculous! How can a team just score 46 points??? Whatever! This gets so frustrating. The Shockers started 9-0 this year and were ranked in the Top 10. Now they are 15-9 and probably won't even make the NCAA Tournament. I am not sure what went wrong, but they have some issues and they need to be resolved in the next month.

A FREE WEEKEND COMING UP!!!

I have a busy weekend planned this weekend between Thunder hockey games and work-related activities and the Super Bowl.
Great news for next weekend, though! I have nothing!!! No Thunder games! No Dances! No work-related events (as of now)! Plus, It's my weekend with Madison and Zach. I am SO excited to actually hang out and just have a weekend with the kids. To quote the Pointer Sisters, "I'm So Excited!" Have a nice day. That was a pun there (the smiley face)! LOL!

The Heater from Hell!

Wednesday night was a pretty chilly one around the Hubbard-Nice house. We had Madison and Zach overnight. We also had all of Kristi's kids. Austin and Ally slept in their rooms. Tiana, Madison, Zach and Destiny all slept on the floor in the playroom. I woke up about 3 a.m. just freezing. I went and put extra blankets on all the kids. I looked at the thermostat and it was 52 degrees. THE HEATER BROKE!!! Kristi called Thursday morning and had it looked at. The filter was sucked into the furnace and it broke it. Well, we have heat again....After spending about $600 to get it fixed! Not a good day, but we have heat back! Hope your week went better than ours.
