Rivers downplays yapping at Cutler, Broncos not happy with trash talk

It's on YouTube now, so it must have happened, right?
Well, San Diego Chargers
quarterback Philip Rivers tried to downplay his animated exchange with Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler on Monday night, which was caught by ESPN's cameras.
Rivers can be seen jawing from the sideline toward Cutler, who had just thrown an incomplete pass on fourth down midway through the fourth quarter of the Chargers' 23-3 victory. Chargers linebacker Matt Wilhelm can be seen mockingly waving toward Cutler.
Asked what he was saying to Cutler, Rivers said, "Nothing. There was really nothing said to him, to be honest with you."
The AFC West champion Chargers (10-5) returned to work Wednesday for the first time since winning their fifth straight game and for the ninth time in 11 games.
"I ain't really thought nothing more of it," Rivers said.
The QB said the trash talk Monday night was "no different than any other game I've ever played in since I was 10 years old. There was nothing unusual going on in that game. Just like anything that gets on the TV, it can be taken any way you want it to.

There's no animosity from me towards him, whatsoever. I don't know if that's the same on his end," Rivers said.
It certainly wasn't in the Broncos' locker room.
Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey
said there's no excuse for what Rivers did.
"And I don't really care for the guy, first of all," Bailey said in a story posted on The Rocky Mountain News' Web site. "He's not a respectable guy right now, because you talk too much trash and do this and that, but you're really not a great player in this league right now.
"You're surrounded by great players, but you're not a great player. I think he needs to understand where he stands in this league -- where he stands on his team first and foremost."
Cutler was more reserved when he met with reporters Wednesday.
"We've talked about it. I'm not going to get into it," Cutler said. "It was an unfortunate situation. They talked a lot and the talk got heated between the two teams. Personally I don't think the teams like each other, which is fine. It's just going to add to it next year. It's going to be exciting."
The Chargers swept Denver for the second straight year, holding the Broncos to just a field goal in each game. San Diego won 41-3 at Denver on Oct. 7.
Minnesota Vikings safety Darren Sharper, who's preparing to face the Broncos on Sunday, chimed in on Rivers. Sharper said it was "surprising" to see Rivers and Cutler getting after it.
Asked if those kind of exchanges happen often, Sharper said, "No it doesn't, but Rivers is that kind of guy. He likes to run his mouth. He's going to learn he is going to have to stop doing that, too."
Sharper said Rivers mouthed off during the Chargers' 35-17 loss at Minnesota on Nov. 4, when Vikings rookie Adrian Peterson
shredded San Diego's defense for an NFL-record 296 yards. "He just runs his mouth a little bit," Sharper said.
Chargers coach Norv Turner said he discussed the matter with Rivers.
"I talked to him and he understands where I'm coming from," Turner said.

What's My Take?
Philip Rivers is a piece of crap with no playoff wins under his belt. The Chargers haven't got a chance in you know what of winning a playoff game. Norv Turner is a terrible coach with a reputation of choking. That should be a perfect fit after the Chargers 14-2 season last year and an early exit in the playoffs.

Oh, here's the link if you want to see the video of that cocky big mouth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma5LAUHTQUA

Madison sporting the Crimson and Blue. Go KU!

Here's a picture that I took of Maddie on Christmas morning. This is her new KU hoody that Kristi and I bought for her. Man! She's growing up too fast! It was a wonderful day.

Feelin' better later in the day.

Here's a picture of Zach and Lane later Christmas day. This is a picture of them showing off their new Star Wars Transformers. Zach seems to be feeling better. That is very good. Merry Christmas.

What a crappy way to celebrate Christmas!

Christmas day started very early for Zach. He was up all night at his mom's house. He was sick. He threw up all night. We picked him up Christmas morning and he still felt bad. He got sick a couple of times and I had to stop the car for him to puke. He went right to bed when we got home. He finally got back some strength when he heard his cousin Lane come in the door later in the day. He seems to be feeling better now. Happy Holidays.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone. Here's the Hubbard-Nice family Christmas tree. We are getting ready for a festive day on Tuesday. There will be more pictures to come soon. Happy Holidays to you.

Broncos lose 23-3. Rivers is a jerk!

It was a rough night for the Broncos. They got smashed 23-3 by the San Diego Chargers. It wasn't even close. This has been an easy year to forget. I can say one thing after tonight. I hate the Chargers and can't stand Phillip Rivers, the Chargers QB. I can't believe the ego on this jerk. He was talking trash to Jay Cutler and the Broncos towards the end of the game. How many playoff games has Rivers won? Oh yeah, that's right. They went 14-2 last year and then choked the first game of the playoffs. I like the way that the announcers on ESPN were talking about how much of an ego Rivers had and that he's not good enough to talk smack like that. The bottom line is that the Broncos have a losing record, won't make the playoffs and the Chargers will choke. I am pulling for Jacksonville in the playoffs now. In the NFC, it's the Giants. They are my 2nd favorite team.

Let it Snow! We got it today!

We woke up this morning to snow and wind in Wichita. I took this picture off our back porch Saturday morning. Wichita ended up getting slammed with heavy snow and wind all day. The roads were terrible, but it didn't stop us. The kids are all at their other parents (or Grandparents), so Kris and I went to finish Christmas shopping. We went to the mall and it was dead! It was great! We did some shopping and took in a movie. More pics to come.

This just in! Thunder fire head coach!

Mark French
THUNDER MAKES COACHING CHANGE
French, Murphy dismissed, Weingartner takes the helm.

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder, off to the slowest start in franchise history, dismissed third-year head coach Mark French today and named former Thunder star Rob Weingartner as interim head coach.

A native of Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, Weingartner (pronounced WINE-gart-ner) began his pro career as a member of the inaugural Thunder team in 1992. Known as a gritty, hard-working player, Weingartner was a key member of both the 1994 and 1995 CHL Champion Thunder teams, compiling 36 goals, 66 points and 424 penalty minutes, while playing under head coach Doug Shedden.

“Rob played the game as it should have been played and has stayed close to the game since his retirement. He is a fierce competitor, who was a proven commodity on the ice”, said Wichita Thunder President Chris Presson. “Rob helped begin a tradition of winning ways in Wichita through his presence on both Thunder Championship teams. We hope that mentality transcends to his coaching style and lends itself nicely to winning games.”

Following Wichita’s second CHL Title, Weingartner was one of just three players who chose to stay with the Thunder in 1995-96. He served as team captain until he was traded to San Antonio for Dave Shute, and came within one game of a third straight CHL Title with the Iguanas. Ironically, the Thunder traded Shute the following season to Oklahoma City for current team captain Jason Duda.

Weingartner spent most of the remainder of his career playing under Shedden with the ECHL’s Louisiana IceGators, before retiring following the 1999-2000 season. Over his eight-year playing career, the hard-nosed forward amassed 308 points and 1726 penalty minutes in 447 games. He served as an assistant coach for the Thunder last season.

“I am both thrilled and thankful for this great opportunity”, said Weingartner. “I enjoyed my time here as a player and hope that I can help the Thunder return to being one of the elite teams in the CHL.”

Weingartner is the ninth head coach in franchise history and the third to take over midseason. Shedden took the helm of a 6-20-2 team in 1992-93 and compiled an impressive 19-13-2 record. In 2002-03, Derek Laxdal stepped in for an 8-19-7 club and went 12-17-0. The following seasons both Shedden and Laxdal had a playoff team.

Weingartner resides in Goddard, Kansas, with his wife Renee and their three children. He will make his head coaching debut in Mississippi on Tuesday, when the Thunder face the RiverKings at 7:05 p.m.

French was let go by the Thunder after compiling a record of 70-59-16. He guided the Thunder to a 38-win season in his first year, followed by a .500 record last season. This season, the Thunder currently has the worst record in the CHL, at just 4-13-0. The Thunder also dismissed second-year assistant coach Ben Murphy.

“Mark has been a consummate professional and he put everything he had into his job, while trying harder than anyone I know. We both wish it would have translated into more wins on the ice. Unfortunately, it did not”, said Presson. “Thankfully, it is not a reflection of his character, but only a bump in the road. We wish him the very best.”

Weingartner, Presson and the rest of the Thunder team will be available for interviews with the media today at 4:30 p.m. at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

The Thunder will return home this weekend, hosting the Odessa Jackalopes on Friday and the Rocky Mountain Rage on Saturday. Both games will face-off at 7:05 p.m. at the Kansas Coliseum. For more information or to order tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL or visit our website at https://email.journalbroadcastgroup.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.wichitathunder.com/.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Down the Chiefs Go!

I loved the Broncos game this afternoon! They beat the crap out of the Chiefs. The final was 41-7. Jeremy was giving me a hard time about not updating my blog in a few days. Well, how's this for an update, bub? Today made it official. The Chiefs are official knocked out of a playoff spot. The Broncos still have a slim chance. They have to keep winning to get in.

Jayhawks are headed to the Orange Bowl!

The Jayhawks are headed to Miami! They are going to play Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl. Here's a picture of KU QB Todd Reesing, left, and Derek Fine waiting to talk to reporters after learning Sunday they’re headed to the Orange Bowl. This is awesome! They are going to a BCS Bowl and Mizzou isn't going to one. HA! HA! HA!

Broncos back to losing ways

Here's Jay Cutler after the Broncos 34-20 loss to the Raiders on Sunday. The Broncos are now 5-7 and there's a good chance that they will not make the playoffs this year. They play the Chiefs in Denver this weekend. I hope that they win that, because the Chiefs really suck! They have lost 5 in a row.

Evel Knievel dead at 69

Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.

Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.
Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills.
Immortalized in the Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980.
Though Knievel dropped off the pop culture radar in the '80s, the image of the high-flying motorcyclist clad in patriotic, star-studded colors was never erased from public consciousness. He always had fans and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years.
I liked him when I was a kid. I had one of his toys when I was younger. I remember playing with that a lot. You would wind it up and the motorcycle would do tricks. It was very cool. I think that everyone knew who he was

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER!!!

November 28th is Darla Tilley's B-Day. Craig's Big Blog reporters were unable to get her exact age. This is the only photo that they could get of her. In this photo, she was very bummed, because she had heard that her favorite brother's Steven and Wes forgot about her Birthday. I hope that she is able to recover from such a horrible experience. Happy B-Day, Sister!

It's official! Zach can now ride a bike!

Zach had a cool Thanksgiving weekend. He learned to ride a bike. Here he is in action! Good job buddy!

Lead singer of Quiet Riot found dead

Quiet Riot singer Kevin DuBrow died Sunday, drummer Frankie Banali confirmed in a post on his Web site. DuBrow was 52 years old and the official cause of his death has yet to be determined, pending autopsy and toxicology results.

DuBrow's body was discovered on Sunday inside the rocker's Las Vegas home; police were called to the residence by a concerned neighbor, and DuBrow was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m. According to those close to the singer, DuBrow celebrated his birthday last month in New Orleans and seemed to be in good health. According to a spokesperson for the Las Vegas police department, there were no signs of forced entry at the home, and police do not suspect foul play.

Credited with helping to launch the 1980s glam-metal scene, Quiet Riot are perhaps best known for their cover of Slade's "Cum on Feel the Noize," which appeared on 1983's Metal Health and eventually peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album is widely considered the first by a metal band to reach the chart's #1 position.

I was a big fan of Quiet Riot growing up. I remember jamming to the whole "Mental Health" album in the mid 80's.

Tonight's The Night. Go KU!!!

This is a day that KU fans have been waiting for a long time now. The Jayhawks have their best record ever. They have always been known as a basketball school, but that has changed. They are a football and basketball school now.
I can remember being a kid in Garden City in the early 80's not even being able to watch KU play on T.V. They would always lose every game. The only game that they had a chance in was the "Toilet Bowl" game when they played Kansas State. That is not the case anymore.
If Kansas wins this game tonight, they will be ranked #1 in the nation. I can say that I had never thought that KU would ever be in this situation. Mizzou is a great team and this will be a great game. I hope that the Hawks can keep this perfect season rolling tonight with a win over the Tigers.
You can see the game tonight on ABC at 7 p.m. (CST). Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!!!

Wichita gets first snow

Wichita received it's first snow storm of the season Saturday night. I woke up this morning and took a look out our back window. This is what I saw. Wichita got a little snow last night. I called Madison last night after I was done working the Thunder game. She was at her Grandma Baird's, as usual! She said that she had been outside with her friend Kaitlyn making snow angels and throwing snowballs. It was an interesting drive from the Kansas Coliseum back to the house after the game. It's was slick. I love it, though!

"Black and Blue Friday!"

WOW! That's the only word that I can think of to describe today! We started the day very early. We met up with Kory and Darla at Wal-Mart at Greenwich and Kellogg in Wichita. It was a madhouse. I stacked up a few toys that I was snagging for Kristi and me. I could barely see in front of me. I proceeded to trip over a pallet. I fell face first on the floor and spilled the toys everywhere. I bruised up both of my knees and discovered a little later that I also ripped the crotch in my jeans. Yeah! It was a long day.
The highlight of the day was people watching. Here's a lady that was in a group of five. They had shirts made for the occasion. She posed for me. I do wish that more people would take in a shower before these events. There were some real stinkers out this morning!

We wish you a "Cutler Christmas!"

We got the Christmas tree and decorations out. The kids put up the tree and got Santa ready for the season. They gave him an interesting look this year. He's now sporting a Jay Cutler jersey. Madison, Ally and Tiana decided to dress him. I hope that he brings us a Broncos playoff berth this Christmas! :)

Happy Thanksgiving! Now It's Time For "Black Friday!"

It was a nice Thanksgiving at the Hubbard and Nice house today. We had Madison and Zach the last couple of nights, but they went to their Grandma and Grandpa Baird's earlier today for Thanksgiving. They were in Colorado last year with mom and dad and it's their turn for Thanksgiving with their mom this year and they did that at the same time we had ours.
We had a good group of people. Kory, Darla and their kids were there. Mom and Dad were here and Pete and Linda Tilley came late. It was a great day! Above is a picture of the ladies preparing for "Black Friday." Destiny was wanting to help out, but you don't bother Kristi when it comes to sales!!! It was a nice day. I ate way too much. Happy Thanksgiving to all and thanks to everyone who came over today. Love you all!

Holy Cow! They Have Won Two In A Row!

The Broncos improved to 5-5 on the season with a 34-20 win over the Tennessee Titans at INVESCO Field. The Broncos scored four touchdowns in the game, each from more than 40 yards. The victory moved the Broncos into a tie for first place in the AFC West with San Diego.

Jay Cutler threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns -- a 48-yarder to Brandon Stokley and a 41-yarder to Brandon Marshall. Glenn Martinez returned a first-quarter punt 80 yards for another touchdown, while Andre Hall added a 62-yard TD sprint in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.
Ian Gold led the Denver defense with eight tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception. Dre' Bly also added a late interception, while rookie Tim Crowder recorded a sack.

As promised. The world's ugliest cake!

So I called Wal-Mart last week to order a B-day cake for Zach's party. They said that the cake I ordered would feed 18-24 people. I told them that I wanted a Transformers cake. The cake that I requested was one with the mask of Optimus Prime on it. Well, this is what I got! It looked like crap! What is this orange crap? Well, Kristi went to Wal-Mart and complained. They gave her something different. Zach seemed to be fine with everything, though. It was the ugliest cake that I have ever seen. It wasn't worth the $18 I paid for it.

Zach's Busy Birthday Weekend

It was a busy weekend for Zachary Craig Hubbard. He celebrated his 6th B-day over the weekend. Things started on Friday night with our party for Zach. We had Kory, Darla and their kids, Pete and Linda Tilley, mom and dad and our crew. It was nice to have everyone together and Zach enjoyed the evening. He got lots of cool gifts. The photo above is a picture of him with the Broncos jersey that we got him. He loved it and didn't want to take it off all weekend. I think that his favorite gift was having Lane spend the night. They had a blast playing video games and hanging out. The only crappy thing about the party was the cake. More on that soon!

11-0! A First for the Jayhawks!

The Kansas Jayhawks are now 11-0! They should be ranked #2 in the nation by the end of the day. They spanked Iowa State 45-7 on Saturday. This is the first time in KU Football history that they have been 11-0. They Hawks next game is the "Border War" with Missouri on Saturday, 11/24 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Rock Chalk Jayhawk....KU!

He's Still Got It!

Kristi and I went to Kansas City on Wednesday night for the Garth Brooks concert. This show was the final show of the 9 Sold Out concerts. Our station, KFDI had two buses of winners that we took up to the show. Well, the bus driver did. Kristi and I didn't want to ride in the bus. So, after I spent what seemed like an eternity checking folks in on the bus, we headed to K.C. The show was at the brand new Sprint Center. That arena is nice! Garth's show was incredible. We had a great time and all of the station winners enjoyed it. I think Kristi enjoyed sleeping the ENTIRE way home. I stopped at Emporia on the way back and it was cold. I stopped to get gas and stood out in the cold wind to wake back up. We pulled into the garage right at 2 a.m. I was back to work at 7:15 this morning. What a day! It was worth it and my travel companion was wonderful. Love ya babe!

Gotta Love It! Broncos beat Chiefs in K.C.!

The Broncos improved to 4-5 for the season with a 27-11 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Denver could move into a first-place tie in the AFC West with Kansas City and San Diego if the Chargers lose to the Colts later tonight. Jay Cutler threw for 192 yards and a touchdown to Daniel Graham. Rookie Selvin Young rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown starting for the injured Travis Henry. Brandon Marshall led all Broncos receivers with six catches for 85 yards. The Broncos defense had four sacks and forced four turnovers, including a fumble that Nate Webster returned for a touchdown. Champ Bailey, Dre Bly and Karl Paymah each recorded an interception.

I love this! I am going to have fun at tomorrow, because there's a lot of Chiefs fans that were talking crap to me and texting me this weekend before the game. Well, guess what? It's time to take it back! :)

10-0!!!

Kansas is 10-0! They beat Oklahoma State 43-28 on Saturday night. This is the best start that they have had since the 1800's. I am so jacked! I love KU! It's so cool to have a Basketball and Football team that are good!

Wichita's newest sports team!

Wichita has a new baseball team. The Wranglers moved to Springdale, Arkansas a couple months ago. That left room for a new team in town. Well, that team was announced today. Wichita's newest sports team is the Wichita Wingnuts. You can get more at www.wichitawingnuts.com.

I kicked this morning off Big & Rich style!

Good Morning America! I woke up this morning and walked across the street to watch Big & Rich this morning. They were live on "GMA" this morning. It was cold, but they were worth freezing for. I had never seen them. They were very good. Here's a picture that I took this morning at the event.

Another day in the books at CMA's

It was another busy day at CMA Radio Week. One of the highlights of the day was meeting the Eagles. They had a press conference and there were only 32 of us allowed in there. It was very cool. They didn't allow any pictures or autographs, but I was able to talk to all of them in the hallway after the conference. I never imagined the opportunity to have a conversation with legends like that. I also had the opportunity to hang out with Randy Travis (above photo). He was very nice and it was kinda special, because Kristi loved Randy Travis way back when her and I dated in the late 80's. I was telling him all about that. He thought that it was cool that her and I ended up crossing paths years later and became husband and wife. I liked him a lot. I will get more details on the event soon. Have a nice evening. I am headed to bed.

More CMA Stuff. Here's Carrie Underwood

Here's a picture of Carrie Underwood and me at the CMA radio show. More stuff to come!

Keith Urban!

Well, I finally got to meet Keith Urban. Here's a picture of us at the CMA radio show. I am in a break right now and wanted to get this on the page. I gotta get back to work. More stuff to come!

Here's an outside look of where I am staying.

Here's a picture that I took this morning from in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. On the right is the hotel where I am staying and on the left is the arena where the CMA's are going to take place. It's also the arena that they Nashville Predators hockey team plays.
I got up early this morning and walked a few miles. I should do that every morning! It felt great! I will put some more pictures on here during the trip. It's been very nice to get the opportunity to do something like this. I have done it on the Top 40 radio side, but never country. It's been fun. I miss the family, though. I am going to take a shower and head over to the Country Music Hall of Fame and take a tour. They have a Ray Charles exhibit. I wanna check that out. It's $18 to get in, but I'm going to expense it and the station will pay me back.

Missing You!

I miss my wife and kids. This trip has been cool, but I wish that I was with Kristi, Madison, Zach, Austin, Ally, Tiana and Destiny. It's hard to be away from family when you are so used to seeing them and talking to them everyday.

Here's where I am staying in Nashville.

Here's a picture of the inside of the Hilton Suites in Nashville that I am staying at. I will take some more pictures on Monday morning when I am out and about in Nashville. My morning is free, so I am planning on going to the Country Music Hall of Fame and over to the Tennessee Titans stadium. It's off to sleep for now.

Take a look at King Tut!

The face of the linen-wrapped mummy of King Tut is seen in his new glass case in his underground tomb in the famed Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007. The mummy of the 19-year-old pharaoh, whose life and death has captivated people for nearly a century, was placed in a climate-controlled glass box in the tomb, with only the face and feet showing under the linen covering.

It's gonna be a great first day at CMA's!

I just got the list of interviews that we are going to have at the CMA's here in Nashville. I am pretty excited. Here's a list of some of the names. We will be interviewing Keith Anderson, Jason Michael Carroll, Eric Church, Terri Clark, Bucky Covington, Miranda Lambert, Tracy Lawrence, Kellie Pickler, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban (photo above). This is a great list of artists to interview. Keith Urban is awesome!
We also found out that The Eagles will be here for interviews/press conference on Tuesday. Now that is sweet! More info to come!

THE FAT BOY IS IN NASHVILLE!!!

I made it! I arrived in Nashville late this afternoon. I am staying at the Hilton Suites in Downtown Nashville. I am by everything. The hotel is right by the arena that the CMA's will be. I am also around the corner from a bunch of cool shops and bars. Here's a picture that I took of the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. It has a cool message on there in memory of Porter Wagoner, who died last week. He was known as "The King of Country Gospel" music. There will be many more photos and stories to come. I am headed to the mandatory CMA Radio meeting. There is supposed to be a special guest there. I will let you know what that's all about.

Headed to Nashville!

It's late Saturday/early Sunday. I am getting laundry done and making sure everything is packed. I am heading to Nashville in the morning. I am leaving Wichita and have to switch planes in Houston. It's so weird how I have to fly almost to the Gulf of Mexico, just to head back to the North to Nashville. Well, I don't make the travel plans and I am not the one having to pay for it, so I am not complaining. My only complaint is that my brother isn't getting to go. I called him all weekend to see if he was going to make it. It's not going to happen. He has to fly to Florida to cover the space shuttle. I was really hoping to see him. It's been a long time. Have a safe trip to Florida, bub.

Kansas Jayhawks Roll! Again! They beat Nebraska 76-39

Behind Todd Reesing's school-record six touchdown passes, Kansas remained unbeaten by overwhelming Nebraska 76-39 on Saturday. It was the most ever scored on the Huskers, who lost their fifth straight for the first time since 1958.
The Hawks are on a roll! This is so awesome! I have always loved Kansas Basketball and Football. It's so cool to hear people talking about KU Football! I love it!

Brett's Bombs Bury Broncos! Bailey and Bly Blow!

The Broncos were part of an exciting Monday Night Football game tonight. They came back to tie the Packers at the last second of the game with a Jason Elam Field Goal. They tied it all up 13-13. The Packers won the toss and received the ball to start OT. The very first play of OT, Favre threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings. He burned Dre' Bly for the touchdown. The Packers won 19-13. Earlier in the game, Champ Bailey was burned for a 79 yard touchdown pass.
The Broncos did all that they could to win the game. They have had tons of injuries. Javon Walker is out. Travis Henry is out. John Lynch got hurt in the game and didn't return. Cutler played pretty good. He had no interceptions.
I am really getting tired of the cornerback's, though. Champ Bailey and Dre' Bly are overrated and have done nothing! All they did tonight was give up the two touchdowns that beat the Broncos. I personally can't stand Champ Bailey. I have seen him twice personally in situations with fans and he was an ass. My brother and his wife saw him at a restaurant in Denver once and said the same thing. Champ, you need to get your big head out of your rear and start playing "team" ball!
I have been a Broncos fan my entire life. I really don't see them making the playoffs this year. They are now 3-4 and trail the Chargers and Chiefs, yes, I said Chiefs. It kills me to say that, but it's true. They are stinking this year.
Well, back to the drawing board. They are off to Detroit Sunday. Go Broncos! I still do think that Bailey and Bly suck, though!

"FAT GUY IN A CONCERT SHIRT!"

Many of you know my favorite band in the 8o's and early 90's was Van Halen. I had tickets to see them last Friday in Kansas City at the new Sprint Center. I got the tickets through the promoter. I have never seen Van Halen with David Lee Roth as the lead singer. I have seen them with Sammy Hagar many times. This would have been my first time to see them with Dave, but it wasn't meant to happen. I gave my tickets to a co-worker, so his wife could go. She went and got me this shirt. It's an XL, and I am an XXL guy. I just wanted to take a picture in it. I hope to fit into it one of these days.

I wasn't so "lucky" in my first hockey game of season

I played my first game of the season in the Adult Hockey League at the Wichita Ice Center tonight. The team that I am on is the Lucky 7's. We didn't live up to our name tonight. We were beat by the Hurricanes 5-3 tonight. My friend Darren is on the Canes and I love it when they lose. They are one of those teams that you love to hate. They have 3 different uniforms. Yes! Three! This is an adult league, not the NHL! Geez!
Tonight was the first game that I have played in since the playoffs last season. I am so out of shape. Kristi said that I did good, but she's my wife, what else could she say....to my face. :)
This is a picture of our jersey logo. My jersey wasn't in yet, well it was, but it was a size medium. That's just a wee bit to small for me. I was #22 and had the last name of "Irwin." I had to use someones jersey who wasn't there. I like them. The colors are just like my favorite old team in the NHL, the Hartford Whalers.

Hockey has all types of fans!

I snapped this picture during warm ups at the Thunder and Blazers game on Saturday night. These two older ladies were hilarious. As you know, most fans get a jersey with their favorite players name and number, well, this lady is a Blazers fan and apparently couldn't decide. So, she went with "All Of 'Em!" It was pretty funny. The lady to her right was entertaining, too. She apparently isn't a fan of clapping with her own hands during games, so she has a toy that claps it's hands. She puts it up by the glass and it claps away. You see pretty much everything in the Central Hockey League. They can probably bring Jerry Springer to a couple of the games to do some shows. He would probably be scared, though. Gotta love the CHL!

Coolin' at the Colcord

Here's a pic of Kristi and me getting ready to go to the Wichita Thunder-Oklahoma City Blazers hockey game on Saturday night. well, it was supposed to be a hockey game. The Colcord Hotel is the building in the background. This is an awesome hotel! I am sure glad that Kris found that free gift certificate for this place. It was a nice, affordable getaway from work. The kids are at their other parents this weekend and pretty much every weekend the rest of the year is going to be filled up with family and work activities. So, we decided to make a quick weekend. It has been wonderful. We needed it.

KU is For Real! They are 8-0!

The Kansas Jayhawks went down to College Station to tangle with Texas A & M. That's one of the toughest places to play. Well, the Jayhawks went down there and beat the Aggies 19-11. Kansas is 8-0 on the season and continues to roll! Go Hawks Go!!!

Quick OKC Getaway!

Kristi and I took a surprise trip down to OKC today. I am writing this blog from Room 408 of the Colcord Hotel. We were looking through stuff and realized that we still had a free OKC Hotel package. The people from OKC Tourism came up to the station a few months ago and we gave away some packages on the air. The girl that's in charge of it from OKC gave me some goodies for personal use, too. Well, this is where we are at. This hotel is sweet! It's a block from the Ford Center. We are going over there to watch our beloved Wichita Thunder play a hockey game tonight. We will just walk over and watch it. I am so glad that we found this free hotel stay. It is awesome. I will try and take some pictures from here to show you. You can see more about the hotel at http://www.colcordhotel.com/

What happened to the Garden City Buffaloes?

Well, Garden City High School's football season came to an end on Friday night. They were beat by the Hutchinson Salt Hawks 56-13. Hutchinson has been won state for 3 or 4 years in a row now. They have went undefeated again this year. You can't say that about the Buffaloes. They had been in the playoffs for the last three years in a row. That's not the case this year. The Buffs finished the season 4-5 and will be staying at home for the playoffs this year. That stinks! Almost as much as the crummy looking uniforms and helmets that they have. They are the all white uniforms above. They also have a dumb looking "G" on the helmet. Better luck next year Buffs! Oh, and get new uniforms!

Congrats Cousin!

I got an e-mail from Aunt Joan. Things are busy with the Podbevsek family! My cousin Leslie got married earlier in the week. Here's a picture of her with her husband, Justin. Congrats!

Family Night Out!

It's been a busy week. We had all the kids Tuesday night. We did some work around the house. Tonight we are taking all the kids to the circus. It is going to be an entertaining night to say the least. I hope to have some pictures of the excursion up soon.
