Evel Knievel dead at 69

Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.

Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.
Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills.
Immortalized in the Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980.
Though Knievel dropped off the pop culture radar in the '80s, the image of the high-flying motorcyclist clad in patriotic, star-studded colors was never erased from public consciousness. He always had fans and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years.
I liked him when I was a kid. I had one of his toys when I was younger. I remember playing with that a lot. You would wind it up and the motorcycle would do tricks. It was very cool. I think that everyone knew who he was

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER!!!

November 28th is Darla Tilley's B-Day. Craig's Big Blog reporters were unable to get her exact age. This is the only photo that they could get of her. In this photo, she was very bummed, because she had heard that her favorite brother's Steven and Wes forgot about her Birthday. I hope that she is able to recover from such a horrible experience. Happy B-Day, Sister!

It's official! Zach can now ride a bike!

Zach had a cool Thanksgiving weekend. He learned to ride a bike. Here he is in action! Good job buddy!

Lead singer of Quiet Riot found dead

Quiet Riot singer Kevin DuBrow died Sunday, drummer Frankie Banali confirmed in a post on his Web site. DuBrow was 52 years old and the official cause of his death has yet to be determined, pending autopsy and toxicology results.

DuBrow's body was discovered on Sunday inside the rocker's Las Vegas home; police were called to the residence by a concerned neighbor, and DuBrow was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m. According to those close to the singer, DuBrow celebrated his birthday last month in New Orleans and seemed to be in good health. According to a spokesperson for the Las Vegas police department, there were no signs of forced entry at the home, and police do not suspect foul play.

Credited with helping to launch the 1980s glam-metal scene, Quiet Riot are perhaps best known for their cover of Slade's "Cum on Feel the Noize," which appeared on 1983's Metal Health and eventually peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album is widely considered the first by a metal band to reach the chart's #1 position.

I was a big fan of Quiet Riot growing up. I remember jamming to the whole "Mental Health" album in the mid 80's.

Tonight's The Night. Go KU!!!

This is a day that KU fans have been waiting for a long time now. The Jayhawks have their best record ever. They have always been known as a basketball school, but that has changed. They are a football and basketball school now.
I can remember being a kid in Garden City in the early 80's not even being able to watch KU play on T.V. They would always lose every game. The only game that they had a chance in was the "Toilet Bowl" game when they played Kansas State. That is not the case anymore.
If Kansas wins this game tonight, they will be ranked #1 in the nation. I can say that I had never thought that KU would ever be in this situation. Mizzou is a great team and this will be a great game. I hope that the Hawks can keep this perfect season rolling tonight with a win over the Tigers.
You can see the game tonight on ABC at 7 p.m. (CST). Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!!!

Wichita gets first snow

Wichita received it's first snow storm of the season Saturday night. I woke up this morning and took a look out our back window. This is what I saw. Wichita got a little snow last night. I called Madison last night after I was done working the Thunder game. She was at her Grandma Baird's, as usual! She said that she had been outside with her friend Kaitlyn making snow angels and throwing snowballs. It was an interesting drive from the Kansas Coliseum back to the house after the game. It's was slick. I love it, though!

"Black and Blue Friday!"

WOW! That's the only word that I can think of to describe today! We started the day very early. We met up with Kory and Darla at Wal-Mart at Greenwich and Kellogg in Wichita. It was a madhouse. I stacked up a few toys that I was snagging for Kristi and me. I could barely see in front of me. I proceeded to trip over a pallet. I fell face first on the floor and spilled the toys everywhere. I bruised up both of my knees and discovered a little later that I also ripped the crotch in my jeans. Yeah! It was a long day.
The highlight of the day was people watching. Here's a lady that was in a group of five. They had shirts made for the occasion. She posed for me. I do wish that more people would take in a shower before these events. There were some real stinkers out this morning!

We wish you a "Cutler Christmas!"

We got the Christmas tree and decorations out. The kids put up the tree and got Santa ready for the season. They gave him an interesting look this year. He's now sporting a Jay Cutler jersey. Madison, Ally and Tiana decided to dress him. I hope that he brings us a Broncos playoff berth this Christmas! :)

Happy Thanksgiving! Now It's Time For "Black Friday!"

It was a nice Thanksgiving at the Hubbard and Nice house today. We had Madison and Zach the last couple of nights, but they went to their Grandma and Grandpa Baird's earlier today for Thanksgiving. They were in Colorado last year with mom and dad and it's their turn for Thanksgiving with their mom this year and they did that at the same time we had ours.
We had a good group of people. Kory, Darla and their kids were there. Mom and Dad were here and Pete and Linda Tilley came late. It was a great day! Above is a picture of the ladies preparing for "Black Friday." Destiny was wanting to help out, but you don't bother Kristi when it comes to sales!!! It was a nice day. I ate way too much. Happy Thanksgiving to all and thanks to everyone who came over today. Love you all!

Holy Cow! They Have Won Two In A Row!

The Broncos improved to 5-5 on the season with a 34-20 win over the Tennessee Titans at INVESCO Field. The Broncos scored four touchdowns in the game, each from more than 40 yards. The victory moved the Broncos into a tie for first place in the AFC West with San Diego.

Jay Cutler threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns -- a 48-yarder to Brandon Stokley and a 41-yarder to Brandon Marshall. Glenn Martinez returned a first-quarter punt 80 yards for another touchdown, while Andre Hall added a 62-yard TD sprint in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.
Ian Gold led the Denver defense with eight tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception. Dre' Bly also added a late interception, while rookie Tim Crowder recorded a sack.

As promised. The world's ugliest cake!

So I called Wal-Mart last week to order a B-day cake for Zach's party. They said that the cake I ordered would feed 18-24 people. I told them that I wanted a Transformers cake. The cake that I requested was one with the mask of Optimus Prime on it. Well, this is what I got! It looked like crap! What is this orange crap? Well, Kristi went to Wal-Mart and complained. They gave her something different. Zach seemed to be fine with everything, though. It was the ugliest cake that I have ever seen. It wasn't worth the $18 I paid for it.

Zach's Busy Birthday Weekend

It was a busy weekend for Zachary Craig Hubbard. He celebrated his 6th B-day over the weekend. Things started on Friday night with our party for Zach. We had Kory, Darla and their kids, Pete and Linda Tilley, mom and dad and our crew. It was nice to have everyone together and Zach enjoyed the evening. He got lots of cool gifts. The photo above is a picture of him with the Broncos jersey that we got him. He loved it and didn't want to take it off all weekend. I think that his favorite gift was having Lane spend the night. They had a blast playing video games and hanging out. The only crappy thing about the party was the cake. More on that soon!

11-0! A First for the Jayhawks!

The Kansas Jayhawks are now 11-0! They should be ranked #2 in the nation by the end of the day. They spanked Iowa State 45-7 on Saturday. This is the first time in KU Football history that they have been 11-0. They Hawks next game is the "Border War" with Missouri on Saturday, 11/24 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Rock Chalk Jayhawk....KU!

He's Still Got It!

Kristi and I went to Kansas City on Wednesday night for the Garth Brooks concert. This show was the final show of the 9 Sold Out concerts. Our station, KFDI had two buses of winners that we took up to the show. Well, the bus driver did. Kristi and I didn't want to ride in the bus. So, after I spent what seemed like an eternity checking folks in on the bus, we headed to K.C. The show was at the brand new Sprint Center. That arena is nice! Garth's show was incredible. We had a great time and all of the station winners enjoyed it. I think Kristi enjoyed sleeping the ENTIRE way home. I stopped at Emporia on the way back and it was cold. I stopped to get gas and stood out in the cold wind to wake back up. We pulled into the garage right at 2 a.m. I was back to work at 7:15 this morning. What a day! It was worth it and my travel companion was wonderful. Love ya babe!

Gotta Love It! Broncos beat Chiefs in K.C.!

The Broncos improved to 4-5 for the season with a 27-11 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Denver could move into a first-place tie in the AFC West with Kansas City and San Diego if the Chargers lose to the Colts later tonight. Jay Cutler threw for 192 yards and a touchdown to Daniel Graham. Rookie Selvin Young rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown starting for the injured Travis Henry. Brandon Marshall led all Broncos receivers with six catches for 85 yards. The Broncos defense had four sacks and forced four turnovers, including a fumble that Nate Webster returned for a touchdown. Champ Bailey, Dre Bly and Karl Paymah each recorded an interception.

I love this! I am going to have fun at tomorrow, because there's a lot of Chiefs fans that were talking crap to me and texting me this weekend before the game. Well, guess what? It's time to take it back! :)

10-0!!!

Kansas is 10-0! They beat Oklahoma State 43-28 on Saturday night. This is the best start that they have had since the 1800's. I am so jacked! I love KU! It's so cool to have a Basketball and Football team that are good!

Wichita's newest sports team!

Wichita has a new baseball team. The Wranglers moved to Springdale, Arkansas a couple months ago. That left room for a new team in town. Well, that team was announced today. Wichita's newest sports team is the Wichita Wingnuts. You can get more at www.wichitawingnuts.com.

I kicked this morning off Big & Rich style!

Good Morning America! I woke up this morning and walked across the street to watch Big & Rich this morning. They were live on "GMA" this morning. It was cold, but they were worth freezing for. I had never seen them. They were very good. Here's a picture that I took this morning at the event.

Another day in the books at CMA's

It was another busy day at CMA Radio Week. One of the highlights of the day was meeting the Eagles. They had a press conference and there were only 32 of us allowed in there. It was very cool. They didn't allow any pictures or autographs, but I was able to talk to all of them in the hallway after the conference. I never imagined the opportunity to have a conversation with legends like that. I also had the opportunity to hang out with Randy Travis (above photo). He was very nice and it was kinda special, because Kristi loved Randy Travis way back when her and I dated in the late 80's. I was telling him all about that. He thought that it was cool that her and I ended up crossing paths years later and became husband and wife. I liked him a lot. I will get more details on the event soon. Have a nice evening. I am headed to bed.

More CMA Stuff. Here's Carrie Underwood

Here's a picture of Carrie Underwood and me at the CMA radio show. More stuff to come!

Keith Urban!

Well, I finally got to meet Keith Urban. Here's a picture of us at the CMA radio show. I am in a break right now and wanted to get this on the page. I gotta get back to work. More stuff to come!

Here's an outside look of where I am staying.

Here's a picture that I took this morning from in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. On the right is the hotel where I am staying and on the left is the arena where the CMA's are going to take place. It's also the arena that they Nashville Predators hockey team plays.
I got up early this morning and walked a few miles. I should do that every morning! It felt great! I will put some more pictures on here during the trip. It's been very nice to get the opportunity to do something like this. I have done it on the Top 40 radio side, but never country. It's been fun. I miss the family, though. I am going to take a shower and head over to the Country Music Hall of Fame and take a tour. They have a Ray Charles exhibit. I wanna check that out. It's $18 to get in, but I'm going to expense it and the station will pay me back.

Missing You!

I miss my wife and kids. This trip has been cool, but I wish that I was with Kristi, Madison, Zach, Austin, Ally, Tiana and Destiny. It's hard to be away from family when you are so used to seeing them and talking to them everyday.

Here's where I am staying in Nashville.

Here's a picture of the inside of the Hilton Suites in Nashville that I am staying at. I will take some more pictures on Monday morning when I am out and about in Nashville. My morning is free, so I am planning on going to the Country Music Hall of Fame and over to the Tennessee Titans stadium. It's off to sleep for now.

Take a look at King Tut!

The face of the linen-wrapped mummy of King Tut is seen in his new glass case in his underground tomb in the famed Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007. The mummy of the 19-year-old pharaoh, whose life and death has captivated people for nearly a century, was placed in a climate-controlled glass box in the tomb, with only the face and feet showing under the linen covering.

It's gonna be a great first day at CMA's!

I just got the list of interviews that we are going to have at the CMA's here in Nashville. I am pretty excited. Here's a list of some of the names. We will be interviewing Keith Anderson, Jason Michael Carroll, Eric Church, Terri Clark, Bucky Covington, Miranda Lambert, Tracy Lawrence, Kellie Pickler, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban (photo above). This is a great list of artists to interview. Keith Urban is awesome!
We also found out that The Eagles will be here for interviews/press conference on Tuesday. Now that is sweet! More info to come!

THE FAT BOY IS IN NASHVILLE!!!

I made it! I arrived in Nashville late this afternoon. I am staying at the Hilton Suites in Downtown Nashville. I am by everything. The hotel is right by the arena that the CMA's will be. I am also around the corner from a bunch of cool shops and bars. Here's a picture that I took of the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. It has a cool message on there in memory of Porter Wagoner, who died last week. He was known as "The King of Country Gospel" music. There will be many more photos and stories to come. I am headed to the mandatory CMA Radio meeting. There is supposed to be a special guest there. I will let you know what that's all about.

Headed to Nashville!

It's late Saturday/early Sunday. I am getting laundry done and making sure everything is packed. I am heading to Nashville in the morning. I am leaving Wichita and have to switch planes in Houston. It's so weird how I have to fly almost to the Gulf of Mexico, just to head back to the North to Nashville. Well, I don't make the travel plans and I am not the one having to pay for it, so I am not complaining. My only complaint is that my brother isn't getting to go. I called him all weekend to see if he was going to make it. It's not going to happen. He has to fly to Florida to cover the space shuttle. I was really hoping to see him. It's been a long time. Have a safe trip to Florida, bub.

Kansas Jayhawks Roll! Again! They beat Nebraska 76-39

Behind Todd Reesing's school-record six touchdown passes, Kansas remained unbeaten by overwhelming Nebraska 76-39 on Saturday. It was the most ever scored on the Huskers, who lost their fifth straight for the first time since 1958.
The Hawks are on a roll! This is so awesome! I have always loved Kansas Basketball and Football. It's so cool to hear people talking about KU Football! I love it!
