Broncos PLOWED Out of Playoffs

What are the odds of the Bengals, Titans and Broncos ALL losing on the same day? Well, it happened! And the Chiefs are in! That can't suck enough! To get right to the point....I'M PISSED!!!
The Broncos had to win and they were in. Well, it didn't happen. They lost in OT to the 49ers tonight and are getting an early vacation. The Chiefs have made the playoffs and are on their way to Indianapolis. The Colts are going to make the Chiefs feel like a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest in the Wild Card. GO COLTS!!! At least some kind of horse made the playoffs!
I will talk more about this after I vent. Oh, yeah. Happy New Year.

Shockers Lose Again

The WSU Shockers Men's Basketball team lost their third in a row tonight. This time it was Northern Iowa that beat the Shox. The final was 63-59 at a Sold Out Koch Arena. My friend, Dan Holiday offered me his tickets to go. I thought that I was going to have to work the Thunder game, so I declined. I am glad that I didn't make it to the game. That would be a depressing drive home after that loss. They play again Monday night at Southern Illinois. That will be another tough one. They started 9-0 and have now lost 3 in a row and are falling more and more in the rankings. They gotta get it together, SOON!

What Would Brian Boitano Do?

He was the Gold Medal Winner in the 1988 Olympics and has been a household name for years. "South Park" even brought him more fame with the song "What Would Brian Boitano Do?"
Brian was on my morning show on Friday (12/29) to talk about his NBC Special. He has a skating special on New Years Day on NBC.
He was honestly one of the nicest guys that I have interviewed. He has ties to Wichita. He comes here to visit family on a regular basis. His mom grew up here and Graduated from Wichita North High.
He also has cool shirts that say "What Would Brian Boitano Do" that he sells. The Proceeds go to charity. You can check them out at http://www.brianboitano.com/. He was a great guy and I wanna get one of those shirts!

"No Go" for the Thunder tonight

The Thunder was scheduled to play tonight against Amarillo. Well, thanks to that snow storm in Colorado, it isn't going to happen. The Thunder played last night against the Colorado Eagles (they lost 4-2). They were supposed to play tonight against Amarillo and tomorrow (New Years Eve) at home against the Tulsa Oilers. This really sucks for me. I am the sound director for the Thunder and when they don't play, I don't get paid. That stinks! They are supposed to be back for tomorrow nights game, though. I hope. Safe travels for the Thunder.

Hussein Hanged!!!

It's Official! The Nut Job is dead!!! Saddam Hussein was hanged Saturday for crimes committed in a brutal crackdown during his reign. The former Iraqi dictator spent his last years in captivity after his ruthless Baathist regime was toppled from power by the U.S.-led coalition in 2003. I am anxious to watch the video and see photos of the hanging. I will be checking http://www.youtube.com/ tonight to see if it's on there!!!

Former President Ford Dies

Gerald R. Ford, who assumed the presidency from Richard Nixon in 1974 and announced to a weary nation that "our long national nightmare is over," died Tuesday at age 93. Former first lady Betty Ford, who made the announcement, did not give a cause of death.

"Godfather of Soul" has died

James Brown, the undeniable "Godfather of Soul," told friends from his hospital bed that he was looking forward to performing on New Year's Eve, even though he was ill with pneumonia. His heart gave out a few hours later, on Christmas morning in Atlanta. He was 73.
He was one of the first artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and other founding fathers. Like him or not, he was a pioneer in the world of music. I thought that he was awesome!

Lunch with the Family

Kristi and I had lunch with some family today at PF Chang's. Uncle Ron and Aunt Kay are in town from The Lake of the Ozarks. They are staying with mom and dad this weekend for Christmas and they're going to come over to the house tomorrow for all of the festivities. It was a great dinner and very fun! Mom thought that she was a pro at using Chop Stix, but wasn't. She tried for about 2 minutes trying to take a piece of Sweet and Sour Chicken off of my plate. We were all watching her try without any luck. All of the sudden, Kristi picked up a fork and stabbed the piece of chicken and threw it onto mom's plate. We all started laughing so hard. It was a lot of fun. That's pretty much the story whenever you get us all together.

Broncos Get Christmas Gift and Win!!!

The Broncos got their Christmas gift a little early today! They beat Cincinnati 24-23 and still are in the hunt for the playoffs. The Bengals scored late in the game to make it 24-23 and they missed the extra point. It wasn't pretty, but I have to quote my brother's excuse that he uses every time the Chiefs get lucky and that's "All That Matters is The W!" Denver's not in the playoffs yet.

Shockers lose again!!!

The WSU Shockers Mens Basketball team lost again. Tonight it was against the USC Trojans. The final was USC 60, WSU 56. That's two loses in two nights. The Shox were 9-0 and now head back to Wichita 9-2. They will surely fall out of the Top 10 now. That's not a way to celebrate the holidays. I have the Shockers head coach, Mark Turgeon on with me every once in awhile in the mornings and he's a great guy. I am sure that they will turn things back around soon. GO SHOX!!!

Shockers Suffer First Loss

Wichita State (9-1) suffered its first loss of the season, 71-68, to New Mexico (9-2) Friday night in a semifinal game of the Findlay Toyota Las Vegas Classic. The Shox came back from being way behind most of the game, but ran out of time. That stinks!

Hang in there, bub!

Check this out! It's my brother's SUV. I snagged the photo from his blog. You can see more at www.bubsbasement.com. Denver got nailed with tons of snow. The Wichita Thunder hockey team was scheduled to play the Colorado Golden Eagles in Ft. Collins Wednesday night, but it was postponed, due to the nasty weather.
I know Denver too well. It will probably melt and be nice for the Broncos game on Sunday when they beat the crap out of the Cincinnati Bengals on their way to the NFL Playoffs (I hope).

Ed Begley Jr. On My Morning Show

I had Ed Begley Jr. on my morning show this morning. I am sure that you know the face. He was a star on "St. Elsewhere." He also was one of the stars of HBO's incredible series "Six Feet Under." He has been in tons of movies, too. He has a new reality series on HGTV starting in January called "Living With Ed." He's very big on the environment. He was one of the first in America to own an electric car. His wife has never been like that. Her name is Rachelle Carson and she's an actress. The series follows there every day lives. She told me that he times her in the shower and he makes sure he does all that he can do to save the environment.
The show debuts on HGTV with a sneak preview on January 1st after the Tournament of Roses Parade and the series starts on January 7th. They were both very nice.

Vote for Jay Cutler as NFL Rookie of the Week

Vote for Jay Culter as the Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week. He kicked butt over the weekend at Arizona. Cutler completed 21 of 31 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns for a passer rating of 101.7 in the Broncos's 37-20 win over the Cardinals. He threw TD passes of 10 and 54 yards. He now has six touchdowns in three career starts and is the first rookie quarterback since Dan Marino in 1983 to throw at least two touchdown passes in each of his first three starts.
You guys can help support the Orange and Blue and vote for Cutler on
http://www.nfl.com/ through Thursday at 10 a.m. MST. The winners will be announced Thursday evening on http://www.nfl.com/. Go Cutler Go!!!

Shockers make it 9-0!!!

Eighth-ranked Wichita State (9-0) tied its best start in school history as the Shockers used a quick 7-0 spurt with under three minutes to play to put away a pesky Kennesaw State squad, 74-65, Tuesday evening in front of a sold-out crowd inside Charles Koch Arena.
The Shox are now headed to Las Vegas for a weekend tournament with New Mexico, Kansas Sate and USC.

3 Broncos headed to Pro Bowl

Champ Bailey, John Lynch and Al Wilson are quite familiar with Februarys in Hawaii, combining for 17 Pro Bowl selections among them. Now you can make that 20, as they were chosen to represent the Broncos at the NFL's annual all-star game.

Iverson to Denver Nuggets

After 11 days of waiting, the NBA has an answer to question. The Denver Nuggets have acquired Allen Iverson from the Philadelphia 76ers. The timing is perfect, since Carmelo Anthony has been suspended for 15 games for sucker punching someone in a game over the weekend. The Nuggets now have the top 2 scorers in the NBA. Does that mean that there might be another team with a championship pennant in the Pepsi Center.

Kids visit Santa

We had a busy weekend with the kids this past weekend. I called the Grand Prairie Hotel and Waterpark in Hutchinson and they hooked us up with a couple of rooms and waterpark tickets. The kids had a wonderful time. We also took them over to the mall to see Santa, and for Kristi to do what she does best...Shop.

Remembering the good old days

I was at work this morning and "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love" by The Spinners came on. That's probably one of my favorite songs ever. It makes me think of being a little kid in Colorado. That then made me think of all of the times that we would head to Colorado for the holidays and see all of the family. Man! I miss everyone! I really miss knocking on the door at Grandma Hubbard's house and seeing her smiling face. I also miss going and seeing Grandma and Grandpa Gardner and having Grandpa tackling me to the floor and rubbing his whiskers on me and beating me up.
Being a parent has made me realize how important family is. This is always a very tough time for me each year. I miss everyone in Colorado so much. I am happy to have my own children and parents here with me. I also have Kristi and her family, but there's no place like Colorado for the holidays.

I want everyone there to know that I miss you very much and can't wait to get out there to see you. I am hoping and doing all that I can to save up to get out there in January. Happy Holidays and I love and miss you all!

Shockers are 8-0!!! Win by 56!!!

The No. 8 Wichita State men's basketball team moved to 8-0 on the season with a 102-46 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-6), Sunday afternoon inside Charles Koch Arena. Junior P.J. Couisnard led six Shockers in double-figures and tied a career-high with 21 points in just 22 minutes. Couisnard was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field, including 1-for-1 from behind the arc. Karon Bradley scored 14 points, Kyle Wilson had 12 points and Phil Thomasson finished with 11 points. Sean Ogirri and Wendell Preadom also connected for 10 points.
The 56-point margin of victory is the third largest in school history.
The Shockers will be back in action Tues., Dec. 19 as they play host to Kennesaw St. The game is sold-out, of course. They play in a tournament in Las Vegas later this month.

The Extractors Lose! I score!

The Extractors, the hockey team that I am on played late on Sunday night at the Wichita Ice Center. We played the Ice Pilots and it was UGLY! We got beat 7-2. I did score the first of our teams two goals in the 2nd period. We had a terrible performance. We are off for three weeks now for the holiday season. That means that I will probably come back completely out of hockey shape and will have to wait forever for another goal.

The Broncos Win!!!

The Denver Broncos finally won today! They snapped a 4 game losing streak by beating Arizona 37-20 today. Jay Cutler, the rookie QB got his first win of his pro career. This kid has an arm on him! I will talk more about this later. I have a hockey game tonight at the Wichita Ice Center. We play the Ice Pilots. They are in 2nd place and we're in 3rd place. They are 2-0 against us this year, but we're coming off a 2-1 win of the Hurricanes. They are in first place and were undefeated until we beat them last week. It was awesome! Well, gotta go!
